A parts supplier for the R8184 Intermittent Oil Primary Control has notified Honeywell’s manufacturing management that one of the components may fail if exposed to electrical noise and electrostatic discharge. The failure of the component may result in a potential chattering relay. This potential failure is not a safety-related issue. Affected date codes are 9740 to 9922.
Data gathered from analysis of units returned to us for evaluation, as well as contacts with field personnel indicates that the problem is sporadic in nature and in the nuisance category.
We have notified your wholesaler / distributor of this situation and are exchanging their inventory with new product.
If you have a unit exhibiting a chattering relay, we ask that you call the following number: 1-800-328-8194, Honeywell’s Customer Response Center. We will arrange for two new R8184’s to be sent to your attention for each unit returned. We will FAX or mail you paperwork to accompany the defective unit and advise where to send it.
Effective immediately, all Honeywell R8184’s will have a two-year warranty.
If you have any questions, your Honeywell sales representative will be happy to assist you. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.
